Online Learning: Environment as Third Teacher

Technology Rich Inquiry Based Research offered this 1.5 hour webinar featuring Laura Salau, RECE and Nicole Pierce, RECE and Tanya Andrejas, RECE of the Seneca College Lab School on July 22nd, 2020. This was the fifth public offering of this session. All others sold out so we expanded capacity and added another date. We are so humbled and honoured to have had this opportunity to engage with others from all over the world in this process of rethinking. We are excited to be offering this for attendees of The Play First Summit as a bonus for those who purchase an all access pass on August 13th. In addition we have had the pleasure to present this webinar to educators from the Leeds-Chatham Region in late June and on August 11th we will be offering it to educators from Durham Region. Other than those dates we are not scheduling another public offering for now. If you are reading this and are interested in this webinar please contact me at diane.kashin@gmail.com.

Educators from the Newnham Lab School will share a brief history of the transformation of their Environment as a Third Teacher over the last several decades. As we face uncertainty in the world of Covid-19, we all have an opportunity to reimagine our learning environments and spaces. Currently, educators at the Lab School are contemplating responses to Covid-19, while reimagining how to continue to uphold their pedagogical values and principles. Join us for a pedagogical dialogue on potentialities as we return to our spaces and seek opportunities to focus on the possibilities that could emerge from these challenging times.

Read some of the feedback past participants have provided after they experienced the webinar which is really a web workshop filled with many opportunities for dialogue, collaboration and professional learning.

I LOVED today’s session. So powerful and energizing! I am now looking forward to the possibilities that this new journey in education will bring, rather than being brought down by the restrictions.

I really enjoyed the webinar! So many passionate educators and wonderful considerations for me to ponder.

Thank you for an inspirational webinar. I truly loved every minute of it.

Thank you so much for today’s webinar.  This was was very refreshing and has given me new hope and a new lens for kindergarten starting back up in September.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the webinar today! Such an inspiring, positive and mind bending experience! I learned a lot and will be taking it back to my team. It will, I am sure, help ease the stress of reopening and having to rethink our space.

Please pass on to Nicole and Laura, and to Tanya as well, how much I enjoyed their talk, and seeing the brief glimpses of the spaces they have designed. It was good, after such a long period of time away from child care spaces and professional conversations to remind myself why I chose to move to this career, and why I love doing this.

Thank you so much for offering this webinar. Our program will be reopening on June 15, 2020, and we’ve had the opportunity to reimagine our space over the last two months. I am walking away today with so much inspiration, hoping to take what spoke to me today, within my classroom and beyond. Nicole and Laura’s passion for early learning shines through, they are both a light for all of us during this difficult time.
